چکیده مقاله:

The mathematical model of Area-Reduction empirical method is written through MATLAB software. Three periods of the hydrologic survey are required to run, calibrate and validatethe model. The Dez Dam, which is one of the most significant dams of the Middle East with three periods of hydrographic surveys in 1972, 2002 and 2011, has been chosen for the investigation. The annual average of the input sediment load to this reservoir was calculated by summation of the suspended load and bed load that were estimated through the sediment rating curve and experimental Karaushev curve, respectively. Upon running the model in order to predict the sediment distribution in 2002, the optimization was done by combining MATLAB and Genetic Algorithm models. The research was validated by comparing the results of the calibrated model in 2002 and 2011 with the measured data in the corresponding years. Additionally, Sediment distribution in the reservoir was predicted for 2032 and 2052 using the optimized model. Input data of the calibrated model can be changeable, so the calibrated method can be generalized for other reservoirs as well.

mathematical model for auto-calibration of area-reduction method in sediment distribution of dam reservoir using genetic algorithm

abstract area-reduction method is one of the most common experimental methods that determines the sediment distribution in reservoirs. in this method, reservoirs are geometrically divided into four types. for all reservoir types, parameters are achieved based on a limited number of reservoirs which leads to large scale errors for prediction of this method. so suitable parameters can be achieved...

Calibration of the Empirical Likelihood Method for a Vector Mean

The empirical likelihood method is a versatile approach for testing hypotheses and constructing confidence regions in a non-parametric setting. For testing the value of a vector mean, the empirical likelihood method offers the benefit of making no distributional assumptions beyond some mild moment conditions. However, in small samples or high dimensions the method is very poorly calibrated, pro...

Calibration method of numerical models in coastal sediment studies of Kuhmobarak area

Abstract Application of numerical models is useful in coastal sediment studies; however, it is essential to calibrate the models in an appropriate method. Empirical equations, historical satellite imagery and other coastal data and evidence are proposed for the models calibration in the vicinity of coastal indicators around the site of projects. In this study, coastal sediment process of K...

Dam-Reservoir interaction analysis based on Scaled Boundary Finite Method and Finite Element Method

This paper proposes and validates a new formulation on the dynamic response of dam-reservoir system, including water compressibility, absorption of the boundary of the reservoir, the earthquake excitation from different directions and the radiation condition boundary at infinity. The impounded water is modeled by Scaled Boundary Finite Element Method, and discretization only at the boundary coi...

An Application to Dam-Reservoir Projects

The use of cost-benefit analysis to evaluate the net welfare payoffs from water projects has now been an established practice for many years. One of the interesting aspects of such cost-benefit studies is that water projects involve an uncertain flow of costs and benefits, arising from the stochastic nature of streamflows. Hence a basic problem for the cost-benefit analyst is that of incorporat...

legendre spectral element method for seismic analysis of dam-reservoir interaction

it is well-known that dam-reservoir interaction has significant effects on the response of dams to the earthquakes. this phenomenon should be considered more exactly in the seismic design of dams with a rational and reliable dynamic analysis method. in this research, seismic analysis of the dam-reservoir is studied as a wave propagation problem by using legendre spectral element method (sem). t...
